Waste is an opportunity to change the world. Through an NGO, this engineer has succeeded in changing the way we look at garbage. Albina Ruiz is an engineer. Thirty years after being born in Moyobamba, San Martín, she led the fight to make the world a cleaner and more sustainable place for everyone. She wholeheartedly dedicates herself to the poorest and all she asks for is change: an improvement in the way we manage our waste and an awakening of the population's ecological awareness. About TEDx In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created a program called TEDx: independently organized, local events that bring people together around a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and speakers alternate to create in-depth discussions and foster connections among the attendees. These independently organized, local events carry the TEDx brand, where the x stands for "independently organized TED event."
