The Police Directorate of Investigations arrested a 28-year-old man who faked his own kidnapping to avoid financial responsibility for his company. According to investigations by the National Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the man simulated being intercepted by armed individuals in October 2025. The scheme aimed to cover up irregularities in a shell company he himself had created, embezzling more than 500,000 lempiras. Following the investigation, the Honduran Public Prosecutor's Office requested his formal arrest on February 11, 2026.
