In this video, I go through the entire Metroid timeline before Metroid Prime 4 and break down the biggest problem in every entry, from the NES original to Metroid Dread. We will talk about classics like Metroid, Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, and Metroid Dread, plus side entries and spin offs like Metroid Prime Pinball, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Other M, Metroid Prime Federation Force, and Metroid Samus Returns. I go into why some of these games are hard to revisit today, how certain mechanics ruin pacing, how linear design and hand holding clash with the Metroid formula, and why Other M’s story and characterization of Samus are still so controversial.
