Something Isn't Right... USBC Bans 6 More Storm Bowling Balls | Ten Pin Life

I didn't want to make this video, but the conversations have gotten out of hand. We are all looking at and trying to treat symptoms, not the underlying disease. USBC's decision to ban 6 more Storm bowling balls hit me really hard yesterday. Not because I am personally or financially affected by it, but as a bowler, something just hit me the wrong way about it. I took some time to think try and rationalize that feeling and hopefully this helps you understand your frustrations as well. 1. I really don't like the timing of this decision. These balls have all been used and used a lot at nationals and at the USBC masters already. If they're illegal, that means that those that used them have a distinct advantage over us that haven't. 2. If a ball is illegal, make it illegal. This half-decision about national tournaments only is only going to create chaos. 3. Clearly, the testing and certification process is broken. This is now 9 bowling balls (Jackal, Jackal Carnage, Purple Hammer, Phaze 4, Ufo Alert, Altered Reality, Wolverine, Electrify Solid & Trend 2) in 6 years that have gone from approved to unapproved. Nothing is worse than losing control over one of the few things you can choose in bowling in your arsenal. This has got to stop. However, these all exist because of a lack of accountability within the bowling community. We don't have a shared reality. When mistakes are made, people and entities aren't stepping up to own their part. With all of that, the solutions are completely based in which side has more power and those on that side win, furthering the divide between bowlers. This cannot be a defining moment for bowling. It has to be a speed bump. No one makes progress without experiencing setbacks. But the only way that happens is if we come together. Tear down the walls, share a reality and support the solutions.
