The Cold War For Bowling | Ten Pin Life
Check out the IndieGoGo Campaign for As The Pins Fall: The Demise & Rise of Bowling HERE: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/as... I'm tired of the lack of unity within the community of bowlers. There is a cold war raging between us all as we try to move this sport forward in equal and opposite directions. It's time to define what is holding us back, and to develop some solutions. Jason Belmonte put it perfectly when he said everyone in the industry is pushing a boulder, but we're all pushing it the way we think is best, but it's rarely fruitful because we aren't coming together to push it in a shared direction. I believe that real problem has three primary causes. 1. The pace of evolution between manufacturers, governing bodies and bowlers are far too different from one another. In some respects, manufacturers are way ahead of all of us. In other ways, bowlers are way ahead of the industry, leaving it behind and moving onto other things. The limit of education and transparency within the sport creates gaps between entities that make collaboration and understanding extremely difficult. 2. The barriers into competitive bowling are too high. It simply costs too much time and money for most people to become competitive bowlers. At the lowest levels, bowling is very inexpensive, but to get to the next level, there is a significant investment people need to make in themselves to gather knowledge, in equipment to have a chance, and in developing relationships in unwelcoming environments. 3. No one person or entity is owning the responsibility of growing the sport. This is no simple task, but the mantra of most has been to take what they can for themselves and to NOT focus on the sport as a whole. We all need to take up the mantle of growing the sport through our individual decision making and in building a unified community of bowlers before we will ever get anywhere fruitful. These problems can be solved. Bowling is an absolute SLEEPING GIANT of an industry. What is it going to take to wake it up? Ten Pin Life exists to tell the story of what it takes to live a life in bowling and to grow the love for the sport.
