April 25th & 26th, Kakeroma Island Due to a change in my fishing plans on Amami Island, I had free days on my departure day and the following day, so I made a last-minute trip to Kakeroma Island. I called and made a reservation from Itami Airport during my layover. Even though it was a sudden reservation, they sent me various DMs with directions and other information. I arrived at my accommodation safely! 💦🙇 @kakeroma.nanryu 【A story of failure 💦】 I tried to board the boat without a rental car reservation, and was told I'd have no choice but to stay overnight at the port! So I called and they made arrangements for me. Thank you to Minami-maru and Tai-maru! I was spared from being a rental car refugee! 😅 Nanryu is a guesthouse owned by a fishing enthusiast, so the living room is filled with fishing gear. I was able to relax comfortably in the living room, drinking beer 🍺 except when sleeping. (The owner was hospitalized with a broken bone.) I was glad to see the sunset at Xi'anmuro, giant eels, and sea turtles, but the best part was drinking at the local shop. It's a place where the villagers relax. Canned beer is 300 yen, and food is only 200 yen, allowing me to enjoy island cuisine like Ryukyu wild boar and papaya. 😄 I also happened to meet Aya, the director who made a film here, and her friends. I enjoyed Amami beyond just fishing, experiencing Amami in ways I wouldn't normally. Travel is truly the best source of energy! #Kakeroma #Nanryu #IslandTime
