Buachaill o'n Eirne - Anne Byrne and Jesse Owens - Abbey Tavern
A restored cut from the 1965 LP, "The Rafters Ring at the Abbey Tavern", featuring Anne Byrne and Jesse Owens in a live performance of "Buachaill o'n Eirne" aka "The Boy from the Erne". Jesse Owens and Anne Byrne were regular performers at the Abbey Tavern in the mid to late 1960's. Owens and Byrne deliver a wonderful duet performance of this song in the gaelic, delivered as something of a love song but containing some of the oddest and most obtuse lyrics, such as "A's n m liom do phg n'n bhrg atim ag caitheamh le bliain" which apparently translated means, "And your kiss is no more to me now than a shoe worn for a year". This video includes photos from the album cover, along with images from an unrelated Anne Byrne and Jesse Owens performance.
