It’s A Good Thing Our Consignors Favourite Players Were Bobby Orr, Howe, Hull, Espo, Mantle & Mays

Every collection tells a story. This one probably tells the tale of a young kid who became fascinated with Wacky Packages cards in the late 60’s/early 70’s. His collection contains about 800 of these iconic riffs on pop culture. Thankfully, he never removed any of the stickers from the card backs. The plot twist is, why are there hundreds of non-sports cards and only a handful of sports cards? One would have to think if a small stack of hockey cards survived, maybe there were more? For whatever reason, he seemed content to let those go wherever it is that most kids shoe boxes went, which was probably the garbage, (but hopefully not). The silver lining is that out of the small stack of sports cards that survived, they were some of the most desired players in the hobby. While I have all the respect in the world for Bobby Schmautz and Mickey Stanley, I’m very happy that the Bobby and Mickey he liked better were Orr and Mantle.
