How to play Atre: Dominance Wars? What spells to use and how to capture cities and fight battles
Here is a guide on how to play Atre: Dominance Wars, a new fantasy 4X out now on Steam in Early Access. I cover turn based battles and units, ambushes, explain hero stats, how to earn mana and cast spells as well as how to capture enemy settlements, summon new avatars, recruit armies and transport them on the map using monoliths. This is campaign gameplay covering three story missions. 🛒 Steam store link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/28... ✅Lore explained: • The best looking new 4X fantasy game now h... 🟣Official discord: / discord ⭐UPCOMING STRATEGY GAMES⭐ • New & Upcoming AAA and Indie games 👓Game Previews: • PC Game Previews with gameplay and features Chapters 0:00 New fantasy 4X! 0:44 Narrative Campaign 1:17 Gameplay basics 1:57 Manual battles 2:37 Morale & routing 3:21 Conquering cities 3:49 Influence mechanic 4:12 Avatars Charisma 4:39 Leveling heroes 4:51 Offensive & Defensive Warfare 5:07 Leadership & Morale 5:26 Terrain Lore & Speed 5:58 Ambush momentum 6:20 Setting up an Ambush 6:51 Extra Ambush tip! 7:10 Perception & Spells 7:31 Avatars & Throne 7:58 Games lore? 8:13 Early Access & Road map 9:13 Spells and mana 9:41 Villages & Barracks 9:53 Casting spells & Levels 10:23 Negative mana? 10:50 Using spells in combat 11:21 Researching spells 11:54 Monoliths 12:31 More features? A power fantasy never gets old as a theme in gaming. Starting small, building up, ever expanding, conquering and defeating opponents with an overwhelming force. That is at the heart of each good 4X or Grand Strategy game, be they in real time or turn based. But rarely do we get to play one such game which puts the emphasis on the magical forces instead of the physical ones. This is why I am especially happy to present to you the Campaign experience in the early access version of Atre: Dominance Wars and to teach you how to best play it. This is a power fantasy in more ways than one, but as I keep saying in my videos the best way to experience such games is to first slowly go through their narrative driven and tutorial filled campaign missions. Here in this version of the game we have three such missions for now, and each one introduces a new set of gameplay systems for the player to learn, increasing both complexity of the game at each step but also the payoff for learning and mastering them. For the sake of not spoiling the narrative part of the campaign too much for you I will keep to explaining how best to play it as there is a lot to learn and even the developers agree you can never have enough tutorials or guides to make the onboarding as smooth as possible. Especially in the case of a game which while it looks familiar by comparison with other franchisees, also has some significantly different gameplay mechanics. So in the very first mission as we learn about how the hero moves on the map as time passes in days which count as sort of real time turns, we get our first taste of manual combat. First topic is the existence of a range phase to battles, because range units get this opportunity to fire off a volley before the melee units even get a chance to play. When you really think about it, this is very logical, it's how every battle starts with archers at the front before melee lines close in. Then again, the range units get to play first as the main part of the battle starts. Now this is counterbalanced by the fact that some units can deal double damage to range units. But do keep in mind they can only do so once all enemy melee units are routed off the battle or killed off. And mentioning routed, that is what the flag icon is for on each unit that is currently in battle. It is their morale. As you don’t have to kill every soldier in a unit, but it is enough to break their morale and force them off the battlefield. To this end when you select a unit and choose which enemy unit it should attack the game shows you both how many casualties your attack will inflict on the enemy unit but also by how much it will reduce their morale. This is another realistic aspect of battles very few 4X games have as a feature, be they turn based or real time. And I personally love this as it adds another layer to turn based battles. #AtreDominanceWars#4X#gameplay
