Canon Canonet QL17 Rangefinder Viewfinder Disassembly and Cleaning Part 1
Canon made millions of the Canonet fixed lens rangefinder cameras starting in 1961 and ending in the early 80s. There are 13 different models and there are lots and lots available on the secondary market for anyone who wants to tinker with what has been referred to as the poor man's Leica. With a few basic tools and a little know-how you can turn a junker from the flea market into a nice little useable camera that can capture great images. This video specifically looks at disassembly and cleaning of the viewfinder and rangefinder mechanisms at the top of the camera. Stayed tuned for a second video on lens disassembly and fixing sticky or stuck shutters and aperture.
