Pedro Ramírez: "Cuando Allende nombra a Pinochet Comandante en Jefe, no había ninguna sospecha"

Pedro Felipe Ramírez is an engineer who, as a member of the Christian Democratic Party, presided over the Student Federation of the University of Chile in 1963. During Salvador Allende's presidency, while serving as a member of parliament, he was among the Christian Democratic Party members who formed the Christian Left party, which joined the Popular Unity coalition. Allende appointed him Minister of Mining and, later, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, a position he held until September 11, 1973. Following the coup, he was imprisoned for nearly three years, tortured, and forced into exile in 1976. Three years later, he returned to Chile, living underground to rebuild his party. He served as ambassador to Venezuela during Michelle Bachelet's last term as president.
