Conexión Ala Solar - Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar 100 años - Río Bogotá

Today we're going to talk about the connection between Ala Solar, Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, and the Bogotá River. Ala Solar is a sculpture by Venezuelan artist Alejandro Otero, donated to Colombia in 1976. Its twin sculpture, Delta Solar, now rests intact next to the Aerospace Museum in Washington, DC, United States. Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar (Pamplona, August 27, 1922 – Bogotá, August 24, 2004) was a Colombian painter and sculptor. He was a pioneer of abstract and minimalist art in the country, and his work had a continental impact. He won first place in the National Salon of Colombian Artists in 1959, 1962, 1964, and 1966. Among his most notable works are the murals El Dorado and Mural Horizontal, the sculptural series Recuerdo de Machu-Picchu, and his monumental sculptural installations in public spaces, such as 16 Torres and Nave Espacio.
