The Jewish cemetery in Czaplinek was established in 1820 on a small hill at Klöbensteiner Weg (now Kamienna Street), on the southern shore of Lake Drawsko. Despite acquiring the land, the community did not use the cemetery for several years, and the first burial took place only in 1829. The necropolis had an area of ​​0.13 hectares, fully fenced. However, soon (around 1850), the fence needed to be renovated, which resulted in an increase in the cemetery maintenance fees, which were a burden for the members of the Jewish community, which at that time numbered about 200 people. The cemetery was devastated by the Nazis during Kristallnacht (November 9-10, 1938), and soon after, all the tombstones were torn out of the ground and piled up in one pile. It is not known what happened to the removed matzevot. As late as the 1980s, fragments of the fence were still visible at the site of the cemetery.
