황도 들녘에 터진 먹고사리 대풍년, 서울 그녀에게 가져갈 귀한 선물

The wild vegetable festival is currently in full swing on Hwangdo, where the spirit of spring is in full swing. The Jeonho (Angelica gigas), known as the "Queen of Winter," has already burst into white blossoms, and thick bracken ferns are popping up wherever my feet take me. Although I have lived on Hwangdo for 11 years, I don't think I have ever picked as much bracken as I have this year. I lit a fire in the cauldron hearth to boil them thoroughly, and am now drying them well in the sun. I plan to give this precious bracken fern, prepared with such care, as a gift to my wife when I return to Seoul. The slightly bitter taste of the Deodeok (Codonopsis pilosula) and Jandae (Adenophora) shoots, which quenched my thirst during the hike, was also superb. Boiling the Geosun (Courtesan's hand) harvested yesterday and shelling the kernels, and boiling and drying the bracken ferns, the afternoon sun had already completely set. It is a truly abundant and grateful spring day on Hwangdo, where the day is filled with the things the island provides, even though the work is physically demanding.
