Chilled water system or chiller plant is used to supply the chilled water to the cooling coils of building HVAC systems including Air handling units(AHUs) and Fan Coil Units(FCU). Chilled water system have different configurations including constant Primary flow(CPF) chilled water system, Primary-Secondary Chilled Water System, and Variable flow chilled systems. In this video, we discussed only the components and sequence of operation of constant flow primary chilled water system. Initially, we discussed the difference between 3-way and 2-way valve systems. The 3-way valve system is a constant flow chilled water system while the 2-way valve system is a variable flow chilled water system. We discussed different components and field devices used in the Chilled Water System for BMS control and monitoring like Water differential pressure switch(DPS), Motorized butterfly valve(BFV), water flow switch, and immersion temperature sensors used to measure the chilled water supply and return temperature. We also discussed the sequence of operation of the constant flow primary chilled water system.
