【春の花と登山】御前山 今年のカタクリは少し早めかな

Summary April 19, 2026 (Sun) On this day, the highest temperature in Tokyo was a summery 25 degrees Celsius. Because spring temperatures have been high this year, I climbed Mt. Gozenyama, which I also visited last year, eight days earlier than last year. I started from Lake Okutama. I was surprised by the low water level this year. A steep climb begins immediately from the trailhead. It took a little over an hour to reach Mt. Sasuyama. From here, the low water level of Lake Okutama was also noticeable. Between here and Mt. Sogakuyama, dogtooth violets began to appear sporadically. The flowers had finished blooming at the lower elevations, but they gradually increased as I went higher. The altitude at which the flowers began to appear was the same as last year, eight days later. After passing a cluster of false hellebore, another steep climb. Reaching the top was Mt. Sogakuyama. The elevation difference to Mt. Gozenyama was less than 100m. From here, the terrain was relatively gentle and easy to photograph. There weren't as many dogtooth violet flowers as before, perhaps due to deer damage, but they were blooming well inside the protective netting. Mt. Fuji was visible from the observation deck. We soon reached the summit. We could see Mount Takanosu and Mount Kumotori. On the descent, we went from the mountain hut through the Okutama Metropolitan Forest, past the Tochinoki Plaza and Tochigi Forest House, and down to Sakai Bridge.
