Briar Pipe #13 is complete, The Cherrywood. After building the Canted Poker, I wanted to create another true sitting pipe, something stable, functional, and clean… but still full of character. This one started with intention: A Cherrywood shape with a flat base, paired with a natural plateaux rim to keep that organic, untouched feel up top. To switch things up, I went with a brown acrylic stem, a subtle change that ended up complementing the briar perfectly. During rough sanding, the grain started to show… and that’s when this pipe really came to life. A straight grain pattern emerged that deserved to be highlighted, not hidden. I used a brown contrast dye, wet sanded it back, then sealed and polished to bring out a smooth, striking finish. No major setbacks on this one, just a clean build where everything flowed the way it should. Sometimes the briar lets you work.
