DIY Alaska Moose Hunt Turns Into A Brutal Packout | Proof of Theory Ep 03
DIY Alaska Moose Hunt Turns Into a Brutal Packout | Proof of THEORY Ep 03 follows the second half of our DIY moose and caribou hunt deep in Alaska’s Brooks Range, where bad weather, heavy packs, fading daylight, and brutal terrain start exposing weaknesses in both us and our gear. A storm pinned us down in camp for days. My dad had already filled his moose and caribou tags, and we had a choice to make: sit back, glass from the tents, and let the hunt wind down — or load our packs, hike deeper into the Brooks Range, and hunt the country we couldn’t see from camp. We finally made the move. More than two miles from the tents, we spotted a giant bull moose locked onto a cow low in a river valley. With daylight disappearing fast, we closed the distance and got into position for a 450-yard shot. Then the real work started: building a meat pole by headlamps, hauling 100+ pound packs through rough country, and finding out what holds up when everything gets heavy. With one day left before the bush plane came back, we glassed a herd of caribou bulls miles away on a ridge. Packs loaded. Snow falling. One last push. This episode also gets deeper into the THEORY1 AX1OM chassis system. We break down the changes made since Kodiak, test the functioning folder prototype in real mountain conditions, and start questioning whether parts of the platform are truly ready for the punishment we’re putting them through. The 170gr Hammer HHT bullets kept proving themselves in the field. Other parts of the system started raising doubts. That’s the point of Proof of Theory. No studio testing. No perfect conditions. Just real hunts, real consequences, and the process of building better rifles, suppressors, ammunition, and complete hunting systems in places that force the truth out of them.
