In summer of 2005 REOS visited the South Ramp of the Gotthard Railway. This railway line crosses the famous mountain region in the center of Switzerland and is still one of the most important connections between the North and South Europe. We follow the line from Biasca to Airolo. In addition to the picturesque villages like Chiornico and Faido, and at Biaschina and Dazio Grande we see the spectacular spiral tunnels that enables the railway to gain height to cross the mountain pass. We see different operators, due to the open access to the line, running their freight trains over this route. We also see local and international passenger trains, some stopping at the small villages, on their way to and from the North and South.
