3 Eddie Van Halen Licks From 1996

Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Eddie Van Halen Licks From 1996. I've had a ton of requests to feature more of Eddie's timeless and inspiring music, and there are technically more Van Halen-related videos/lessons on my channel compared to any other guitarist/band. There's a good reason for that, as Edward Van Halen is the entire reason I started playing guitar, so it's always a good time when creating another Van Halen-related video - so let's dive in! This episode revolves around a series of licks/ideas captured in 1996 in Jason Becker's living room. The footage documents Eddie gifting Jason an early Peavey Wolfgang guitar, which was recently sold at auction (to offset Jason's medical expenses) a few days ago on December 14, 2023. This rare look at Eddie strutting his stuff in such a candid setting is beyond inspiring and historic! The ideas shared here include a signature EVH blues scale-based tapping lick, a finger-twisting "falling down the stairs" legato run, an interesting triad-based phrase that weaves along the strings and up the neck, and an interesting busy melodic riff that sounds familiar, but I was unable to place where that particular idea came from or if it was indeed used in a song that Van Halen recorded.
