Parallel Worlds (West Coast-Style IPA) | Wayward Lane Brewing x Threes Brewing | Beer Review | #2921

In this review, I'm going to take a look at another collaboration beer, this time between Wayward Lane Brewing and Threes Brewing (‪@threesbrewing5231‬), and it's their Parallel Worlds. This is a West Coast-style IPA that is brewed with Simcoe, Citra, Simcoe CO2 Extract, Citra Cryo and Simcoe Cryo hops, then dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Simcoe Cryo and Strata Cryo hops, before being finished off with Nelson Sauvin "hop juice." Sounds like there's a lot going on with this one, and considering I love the style, I'm super stoked to give it a go. Let's see how it is! Also, I want to give a huge thanks to Wayward Lane, and more specifically their co-founder, Kyle, for this beer! Additionally, another huge thanks to Chris over at Brewed & Bottled in Lewiston, NY for providing a helping hand in getting this beer to me! Link to Wayward Lane Brewing's Beer Mail: Courtesy of ... Parallel Worlds is an amalgamation of both breweries techniques and ideals coming together to produce a stunning display of some of the world’s finest hops. We started with the only way we know, and insanely clean and dry base consisting of a blend of our favorite pilsner malts, and a touch of malted wheat, then began layering in all of the best hops in our arsenal, plus some new and exciting products to take this beer to another level of saturation. On the hot side we loaded the kettle with our hand selected lots of Simcoe and Citra from Coleman Agriculture, Simcoe CO2 extract, Citra Cryo, and a hefty dose of Simcoe Cryo Fresh from our friends Yakima Chief Hops. Cryo Fresh is an exciting new product that takes fresh off the bine wet hops and turns them into pelletized cryo that can be stored frozen until use, locking in the vibrant fresh hop character. Post fermentation with one of our house lager strains, we loaded up the dry hop with a massive dose of Freestyle Hops Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe T90, Simcoe Cryo Fresh, and Strata Cryo. On its way to the brite we had to add one more layer to the 'out of season' fresh hop goodness with another new product - Nelson 'Hop Juice' from Freestyle. This is a take on Freestyle’s Subzero Hop Kief, made with wet/unkillned hops. The sum of all of these additions presents a dankness and saturation that leaves the senses stunned. Aromas of sweet passionfruit, sticky cannabis, and the unmistakable pungency of fresh hops burst forth from the glass. Upon the first sip, waves of flavor wash over your tongue, presenting as ripe donut peaches, pithy/sweet citrus rind, mango gelato, and an earthiness reminiscent of being in a damp coniferous forest. Lip smacking bitterness that hits and recedes quickly drives high levels of drinkability in this vibrant display of what modern WCIPA can be.
