FIDENZA? Ma cosa c'è da vedere??? - Guida per un weekend

We've often found ourselves driving along the highway, passing the Fidenza exit and wondering, "What's there to see in town?"... it's time to find out! We strolled through the city center, from the medieval tower with both Guelph and Ghibelline battlements to the Palazzo delle Orsoline, which now houses the public library and a Museum of the Risorgimento, which houses, among other things, one of the few "Album dei Mille" (Album of the Thousand) ever produced. We passed by the splendid Romanesque Cathedral of San Donnino, founded on the first steps of the headless saint, and entered the sumptuous Theater dedicated to Girolamo Magnani. But we also ventured outside Fidenza's city center to discover other gems of this area: we saw how Parmigiano Reggiano is made at the Parma2064 dairy, we got lost in the world's largest bamboo maze, the Labirinto della Masone, and we encountered million-year-old whales at the MuMAB. Most importantly, we discovered that Fidenza is at the heart of the Via Francigena! So we walked a short stretch of this historic route from the city center to Siccomonte. A 5km walk (one way), almost entirely flat, that gave us a taste of the area's scenic beauty!
