A Spiritual Journey Through Koyasan, Japan | Exploring Okunoin Cemetery | Japan Travel Guide

Welcome to my Japan Series! Today’s visit is a truly spiritual one: Koyasan (Mount Koya), one of the most sacred places in Japan and the center of Shingon Buddhism. It’s a place that carries an energy and aura that feel out of this world. In this video, I’ll take you along my visit to Koyasan as we explore the Okunoin Cemetery, the largest in Japan, wander through the temple grounds, and experience what it’s like to stay overnight in a traditional Buddhist temple. I’ll also share a room tour and some of my favorite moments from this unforgettable destination. Koyasan is a place I would visit again in a heartbeat. Although small, it offers countless temples, beautiful forested paths, rich Buddhist history, and a peaceful atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Japan. Whether you’re interested in spirituality, Japanese culture, or simply stunning scenery, Koyasan is a destination worth adding to your Japan itinerary. I really hope the footage I captured conveys even a fraction of the energy this place holds. If you would like a closer look at my full itinerary, I created a complete Japan Travel Guide featuring this 21-day trip, including 7-day and 14-day alternatives, recommended areas to stay, temples to visit and everything about Japan’s transport, an so much more.
