Eli Leibowitz - Parent-based treatment for childhood anxiety and OCD: the SPACE program. The SPACE Program (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) is a novel entirely parent-based treatment for childhood anxiety and OCD. SPACE works by reducing parental accommodation of child symptoms and increasing supportive parental behavior. NVR-informed tools for coping with child reactions to reduced accommodation are a key element of SPACE. This talk will provide an overview of The SPACE Program and will present data from clinical trials demonstrating its acceptability, feasibility, and efficacy. Neurobiological findings from brain imaging and endocrinological research underscoring the key roles of parents in child anxiety regulation, and the importance of addressing parental accommodation of child symptoms will also be presented.
