A Different Kind of Hike | Hooker Valley Track, Aoraki/Mount Cook in New Zealand | EP3

Today is the day. I still remember the first time I walked the Hooker Valley Track. The weather was at its worst. Heavy rain, completely soaked, freezing cold. Even then, it was still beautiful. But this time was different. Not a single cloud in the sky. Clear blue light and that perfect cool air that makes walking feel effortless. ☀️ We start the day slow in Lake Tekapo. A short run by the lake 🏃‍♂️, a quick dip in the water 🥶, and a light breakfast before checking into our Airbnb for a late lunch. From there, we stop by Peters Lookout for a distant view of Aoraki Mount Cook 🏔️ before heading to the Hooker Valley Track. Walking towards Hooker Lake, the conditions couldn’t have been better. There weren’t many floating glacier pieces on the lake this season, but the clear, uninterrupted view of Aoraki was something I had been hoping for ever since my first visit three months ago. ❄️ I hope you enjoy the walk and the views.
