Simple Life in the Carpathians: Planting Potatoes 🚜 & Fireside Cooking 🥘

Today in the village was incredibly productive and full of heart. Spring is a busy season, and we’ve tackled one of our biggest tasks—planting two large fields of potatoes. It’s hard physical labor, but working together as a family makes every moment worth it!The morning started in the kitchen with Roza preparing a hearty lunch. While the chicken drumsticks were marinating and the fresh cucumber salad was being tossed, we were already out in the fields. After finishing the first section, it was finally time to light the fire. There’s nothing quite like the aroma of potatoes and lard wrapped in foil, roasting over open flames. That first bite after hours of work is the true taste of village life!Refreshed and refueled, we headed back to finish the second field, racing against the sunset. To wrap up this long day, Anya went to the barn to check on our latest surprise—a beautiful baby calf that was born just a few days ago. Seeing this little one healthy and happy is the perfect reward after a day of hard work.
