But the real driver of this abuse was emotional dependence. She was subjected to violence and abuse from boys, one of whom beat her so often that she was hospitalized 18 times. The greatest trauma was losing the baby she was carrying because of these beatings. The pain caused her to fall back into alcoholism. On top of all this, Roberta also spent months in prison, simply for being caught in possession of pills at a nightclub with other friends. True change came in May 2024, through a radical process of emotional and professional rehabilitation using the StandUp Method, of which she is still a member.
