Coney Island Yard Loop From The ‘Railfan Window’

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, MTA NYCT Subway held a Family Day celebration at Coney Island Yard. As part of this event, guests were invited to ride excursions on a set of R-32 "Brightliners" around the yard. This allowed for a 'rare mileage trip' in an area of the subway not normally available for non-employees. The R-32s were the last cars to operate in revenue service for MTA NYCT Subway that had the railfan window as all cars now have full-length cabs. Coney Island Yard is the largest subway yard and maintenance facility in New York City. Opened in 1926, it sits on 76 acres of land. It accommodates more than 1,800 railcars, and a full range of services for repairing and restoring any car in the fleet. Note that the audio has been altered to provide anonymity for the voices of guests. Full resolution pics and prints: https://www.riverrailphoto.com/nycsubway https://www.riverrailphoto.com/mtanyc...
