Racing, Buzzin' Hornets, barcodes, Look Alike, Team Spirit. All things used to substitute the cigarette logos for words, phrases and slogans that weren't those products. Since the Race of Champions in 1968, Formula One had a very long and complicated relationship with cigarette sponsorships. Legislation in the UK and France, and later other European Countries meant that as time went on, it was becoming harder and harder for tobacco companies to advertise. To the point where they all pulled out in around 2007 or so. Marlboro excepted. So what creative ways did they skirt the bans? And are there any stories to tell? Yes, actually... Sort of... Enjoy!
