I am the living bread that came down from heaven (John 6:51). The work of Jesus Christ is not to help people find their way back to salvation. He himself is that way. Because he is the resurrection, he is also the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus did not come to offer sinners a second chance to choose better or obey better in order to succeed on the path leading to eternal life. He came to raise us from the dead and offer us an eternal destination, a destination that would be inaccessible without him, but which becomes assured through him. In Adam, there was a choice between two trees; in Jesus, there is only one tree: the tree of life.
