The population of the Rohan residential complex in Kharkiv is several tens of thousands. The complex is located within the city limits of Kharkiv, primarily south of the Kharkiv-Chuguev-Kupyansk Southern Railway line and primarily east of the Ring Road. The central axis of the complex and its main thoroughfare is Rohanska Street, and perpendicular to it is Serhii Gritsevts Street. The Rohan urban district is further divided into the following districts: the Rohan industrial zone (on the southwestern side of the Kharkiv-Balashiv Railway); Horizon (Ukrainian: Обрій) is a residential complex located in the Industrial District of Kharkiv, in the eastern part of Kharkiv, on the ring road. It is part of the historic district of Rohan. The microdistrict is divided by Serhii Gritsevts Boulevard into two parts: Horizon-1 and Horizon-2. The microdistrict is located on the outskirts of the city, yet the adjacent area is slated for active development. The microdistrict is a short drive from the Industrialna metro station and has the necessary infrastructure.[1] The Southern Railway stop, Obriy (formerly platform 24 km), was named after the microdistrict's Ukrainian name. Since 1930, a military airfield, Rogan (airfield), was located on the current site of the microdistrict. During the Great Patriotic War, it served as the airfield of the S. I. Gritsevets Kharkiv Military Pilot School. It closed in 1972. Development of the microdistrict began in the early 1990s. Initially, according to design documentation, it was constructed as various microdistricts, "Horizon-1," "Horizon-2," and so on.[3] Part of the microdistrict was unfinished, so it has a semicircular rather than circular appearance.
