Trudeau condemned in parliament after cracking down on Freedom Rally truckers
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has endured a torrid barrage of questioning in parliament as he continues to face backlash over his decision to crackdown on the Freedom Convoy truckers. It comes as Mr Trudeau invoked emergency powers in a bid to end the occupation in the capital - and elsewhere across the country - and cut off protesters' funding. Thousands have descended on Ottawa to join the truckers, who have been protesting against COVID restrictions outside parliament for weeks. Conservative MPs want the prime minister to apologise after he accused the opposition of standing with racists. "Conservative Party members can stand with people who wave swastikas, they can stand with people who wave the confederate flag," Mr Trudeau said. "We will choose to stand with Canadians who deserve to be able to get to their jobs, to be able to get their lives back. These illegal protests need to stop, and they will."
