PHILIPS CD-i: Der Multimedia Mega-Flop

In this video, we take a look at the CD-i from Philips. In 1991, the Dutch consumer electronics company fully committed to the multimedia format and failed miserably. The company reportedly spent $1 billion developing the format and producing various players. In 1996, they pulled the plug... even though the format had a lot to offer and could have been a success. I introduce the devices, various CD formats, and my Philips CD-i 450.
