Coral-Sul: Africa's First Floating LNG Facility
The Coral-Sul FLNG, constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries at its shipyard in Geoje, South Korea for Eni, is the first floating LNG facility ever to be deployed in Africa, and the first that is built specifically for Africa. The hull of this technological jewel is 432 metres long by 66 metres wide and weighs in at about 140,000 tonnes. Despite the challenges encountered during the Coral-Sul FLNG project, especially under the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, we achieved the successful delivery of the project on time and on budget. The Coral-Sul FLNG will be a game-changer for Mozambique's economic transformation. With this, Mozambique has the potential to generate $12 billion annually by exporting 30 million tonnes of LNG.
