Scud Bomb | FLY TYING TUTORIAL

In this tying, video shot in the Anglers All tying studio, local tyer, Anglers Covey Guide and Umpqua Signature Tyer Hans Mylant talks us through the process of tying his Scud Bomb fly pattern. Hans originally designed this scud pattern specifically for tight line or euro nymphing, as the fly itself has enough weight to be the lead fly in a multi-fly rig, and remove the need for split shot. To the same design mentality, using the jig bomb tungsten bead from Umpqua inverts the fly immediately allowing it to ride hook side up and reducing snag points. Hans designed, fished, refined and fished some more, this fly for years and put countless clients on fish all over the South Platte River watershed. Through those uses he found this fly works extremely well as the lead fly in a traditional indicator multi-fly nymph rig as well. Tie 'em up or buy 'em up! Fish this bug! Enjoy the tying video, and see the materials list below. We also carry this fly in multiple sizes and colors in both Littleton & Denver fly shops and online.
