Guldbryllupsgaven åbnes: kongeligt mesterværk fra 1892 | Kongens Håndbibliotek

Watch as His Majesty the King’s Librarian, Mikael Bøgh Rasmussen, opens a magnificent box containing a very special gift. The box itself is a work of art, crafted in gilded silver and enamel, featuring a commemorative plaque of Christian IX and Queen Louise. The royal couple received it as a gift for their golden wedding anniversary on 26 May 1892. Inside the box lies a large book bound in golden silk, with delicate watercolours and finely chased gilded edges. The gift was presented to the royal couple by one of the largest companies of the time, the Great Northern Telegraph Company. It depicts the landscape across which telegraph cables were laid—from Europe and all the way across Asia.
