What holds a community together when resources are scarce? In Keur Simbara, it’s not infrastructure or outside aid—it’s people. It’s the relationships that bind neighbors, the trust that turns ideas into action, and the belief that no one should be left behind. This film, produced by Ancien Well Productions in association with Tostan, captures how one village in Senegal organizes, supports, and sustains itself—from creating a health fund, to training local leaders, to passing values from elders to youth. Twelve-year-old Ami Konaté dreams of working the land like her parents. Her vision is shaped not by instruction, but by example. In Keur Simbara, learning happens in the everyday—in shared meals, in community meetings, in long walks to the fields. As one resident says: “People are treasure.
