10 | Choosing Between Houses in Italy, Tiling work and the Oak Tabletop

Back in Belgium, we often find ourselves revisiting the photos and videos of the houses we explored in Italy. Slowly, we begin making choices. Some are guided by practical things such as location and price, but most of all by feeling. How did we feel when we arrived there? How did the place stay with us afterward? In the end, three houses remain on our list, with one clear favourite among them. That is the house we decide to continue pursuing, and the one for which we will make an offer. Even while being back in Belgium, part of our thoughts quietly wander back to Italy. The dreaming continues. Meanwhile, work on our little house in Zeeland goes on. We are focused mainly on tiling, placing green tiles behind the stove. What seemed perfect in theory turned out slightly different in reality. The tiles were just a fraction too wide, which meant carefully grinding each one down ever so slightly so the full row would align perfectly. We are also finishing the final tiling work in the kitchen. Outside, spring begins to make itself felt. It was a warm and beautiful weekend, and we took time to enjoy being outdoors as well. Back in our home atelier in Antwerp, we continue working on the oak tabletop for the dining table that will eventually find its place in our house in Zeeland.
