She Opened Mustards Grill in 1983 and Never Left — The Legend of Chef Cindy Pawlcyn, Napa Valley

If you’re looking for a Michelin star dining experience while in Napa Valley, I’m sorry to report that none of them have a woman chef at the helm. But if you look on the Michelin site for Napa recommendations, Mustards Grill stands out - in part because Chef Cindy Pawlcyn is a fucking legend. Mustards arrived on the scene in 1983 and quickly earned a beloved reputation reputation for exceptional fare and a stunning wine list. Chef Cindy was an early advocate for using local, sustainable meats and produce; she introduced a more accessible price point with no less attention to detail and quality. Since her first location, Chef Cindy has built a dining empire across Napa Valley and the wider local region. We had a splendid dinner at the original Mustards Grill location, al fresco, with our dear friend Carin and two of her friends and coworkers, Kelly and Grace. Of course, we brought two bottles of Fantesca and a bottle of Fearless Wines along to the party.
