Intuitive Abstract Face Painting | No Sketches, Just Paint

I lose myself in the chaos. Then I start to tame it. That’s how this abstract portrait painting started. No sketch. No plan. Just a vague idea, a reference photo, and the usual mess of ink and sponge brushes. This one's part of my abstract face series, the ones I paint without thinking too hard. I just respond to the marks. Let the materials do their thing. It's very different from my Doubt Creature pieces, where the idea comes first and everything’s a bit more considered. In this timelapse (with voiceover), I talk through the process. What I’m thinking as I paint, what’s influencing it, and why I let the lines run past where they’re meant to stop. There’s a bit of Cubism. A nod to The Matrix. Plenty of grit, raw texture, and probably some subconscious stuff about not wanting to be confined.
