Deep in the Champagne region, we explored a forgotten château once owned by the Duprez family, aristocrats who made their mark in the wine trade. As Sam and I stepped inside, it quickly became clear this was more than just a residence. This place once pulsed with activity, at the heart of a working vineyard estate. While champagne was mostly produced offsite, we found underground cellars carved into stone, likely used to age bottles in ideal conditions. Over time, as wine production modernized, the château was slowly abandoned. Yet traces of its past remain: open cabinets, rusted tools, hooks where barrels once hung, silent reminders of a life deeply connected to the land and its harvest.
