The families of the Nottingham stabbing victims have said those responsible for failings in Valdo Calocane’s care have "blood on their hands". A review by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found "a series of errors, omissions and misjudgements" by mental health services. In June 2023, Calocane fatally stabbed students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both aged 19, and Ian Coates, 65, before stealing his van and crashing into three other people. It has been revealed that a doctor had warned the extent of Calocane’s mental illness could make him "end up killing someone", three years before the attacks.
