B-52 Lands at Former Loring AFB Maine - August 11, 2022
It's been nearly 29 years since the last B-52 left Loring Air Force Base in the northern woods of Maine. The base closed in 1993. Since the closure a B-52 has never landed here. That all changed on August 11, 2022, when a Stratofortress touched down on the now-civilian Loring airport to participate in an air show. Those who remember Loring's history as a strategic air command nuclear bomber facility, hosting B-36s and then B-52s, celebrated the return of a Stratofortress, even if only for a few days. The first part of this video was received with no ambient audio; later, listen as the crowd celebrates the long-awaited return of a BUFF to the runway at Loring.
