Real name: Satomu Shimizu. Born in Yamanashi Prefecture. After graduating from Nishimae Elementary School in Yokohama, he apprenticed at the Yamamoto Shugoro Shoten in Kobikicho, Tokyo. In 1926, his work "Sumadera Fukin" was published in "Bungei Shunju," becoming his literary breakthrough. His novel "Nihon Fudoki" was nominated for the Naoki Prize in the first half of 1943, but he declined the award. Subsequently, he became known for his popular novels, including historical and period novels that depicted the hardships of samurai and the sorrows of ordinary people from the perspective of commoners, such as "Yanagibashi Monogatari," "Neboke Shocho," "Eiga Monogatari," "Momi no Ki wa Nokotta," "Akahige Shinryotan," "Goban no Tsubaki," "Aobeka Monogatari," "Kokū Henreki," "Kisetsu no Nai Machi," "Sabu," and "Nagai Saka." He was particularly highly acclaimed for the many masterpieces he wrote in his later years. This is Yoshimi Abe, a voice trainer and narrator.
