Chagu Chagu Umakko is a festival held every year on the second Saturday of June in Takizawa City and Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. Since ancient times, horses have been essential livestock for farming, along with cows, and the festival is held once a year to express gratitude for the hard work of the horses that live alongside them in the region's unique curved houses. The festival involves a parade of horses, approximately 13 km from Onikoshi Sozen Shrine to Morioka Hachiman Shrine, ringing with the jingling of bells attached to the horses; it is said that the festival got its name from the sound of the bells.
