Colisão entre viatura e carro termina com morte de agente da GCM no centro de SP

An accident involving a patrol car from the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) resulted in the death of officer Fábio Pereira de Oliveira, 33 years old. The incident occurred in downtown São Paulo when the patrol car collided with a car making an illegal turn on Rua Augusta. During the impact, an accidental discharge of a pistol belonging to officer Itala Mendes de Oliveira fatally struck Fábio. The accident happened while the patrol car was responding to a call and was surprised by a vehicle attempting to access a parking lot against the flow of traffic. The force of the impact caused the patrol car to momentarily end up on two wheels. Witnesses reported that the driver managed to avoid running over pedestrians by manually controlling the vehicle. After the collision, the officers quickly assisted Fábio and took him for medical attention; however, he did not survive his injuries. Itala Mendes also required medical attention due to the emotional shock caused by the incident. The Municipal Secretariat of Urban Security deeply regretted the loss of the officer and is providing support to Fábio's family. Investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accidental shooting and to assess both administrative and criminal responsibilities related to the case.
