Perhaps she always keeps it nearby so she can throw it at any time. Kintaro often looks a little sad when hit, though it may just be my imagination. After that, "Mom, that's mean!" In the end, Kintaro still went to bother Genki again. Genki's preemptive attack did not seem to have any effect. Kintaro is becoming more mature day by day, but seeing his still-childlike side makes you wish he would stay this way.
