Jonathan Blow Admits to Hiring AI Voice Actors for New Game
Jonathan Blow has admitted that, instead of using human voice actors for placeholder vocals in his new game: 'Order of the sinking blinder'. After spending over 20 million dollars in budget for his new game, Order of Stars. Jonathan Blow speaks on the infeasibility of hiring more voice actors, and the the conveniences of generative ElevenLabs API. Jonathan Blow said he was so pleased with ElevanLabs that he donated his pets to a rescue shelter and set up an artificial son and daughter (Birk and Tara) which he feeds on daily intervals. This caused some commotion in the chat who were staunchly against artificial intelligence but, not one to back down, Blow doubled down on his views, claiming that Birk was the best thing to ever happen to him. Jonathan lent his sympathy toward people who were against AI. He did acknowledge, in his defense, that it took away jobs from humans but he said, with ChatGPT and ElevenLabs, that humans were no longer relevant to society. He also said he thought the notion of AGI was overhyped and relayed an anecdote about a voice actor for The Witness needing to take cigarette breaks every thirty minutes which, quote, 'ElevenLabs would never do'.
