Setesdalsbanen narrow gauge steam railway. Run-round footplate ride.

The Setesdalsbanen narrow gauge steam railway is a 3 foot 6 inch (1,067mm) gauge preserved railway line. Absolutely fantastic railway with wonderful scenery. The 5 mile (8 km) route runs between Grovane and Røyknes stations in Vennesla, 20 km north of Kristiansand on the coast. Norway’s first preserved railway line opened 1964 after the line’s official closure in 1962. This video was taken on the 13th August 2010 and it was such a memorable and fun trip, ending with a run-round footplate ride, that I have managed to resurrect the video from the old format and knock it into some sort of shape that you may enjoy. A must to visit if ever in that part of the world ! The locomotive is a 2-6-2 tank Class XXI number 5, built at Thunes Mekaniske Værksted in1901.
