The Kandahar airbase is a key facility run by the British on behalf of NATO, and the Royal Air Force has an 800-strong presence there. The RAF is the most technologically advanced of all the forces and here it is pushed to the limit. While luxuries are few and far between, keeping a base running smoothly in the middle of a desert is a challenge in itself.
